A wedding party is a major part of the event. If you doubt it, just talk to a wedding planner who has been around the block a few times and listened to brides, grooms and assorted other stakeholders trying to iron everything out at the last minute. What you'll find is that groomsmen and bridesmaids really make up a lot of the ceremony and pomp (as well as the fun) of the wedding in more ways than one.
That's part of why we've set up this specialized e-commerce catalog for groomsmen's gifts. Here are some tips we've picked up along the way as we talk to our customers about how they plan their wedding events.
Most brides and grooms like to try to have an even number of groomsmen and bridesmaids just for marching purposes. That’s not a requirement – but for an unmatched number, have some plan for choreographing your wedding procession accordingly.
Many groomsmen's gifts and bridesmaid’s gifts go along with a color scheme. For example, someone who likes to have an organized approach to style might like to match the gifts to the dresses, or in the case of the groomsmen, the tuxedos or other formalwear that they're going to be standing in on stage.
Matching Gift Sets
It's not essential that you give the exact same thing to the groomsmen and the bridesmaids, but some wedding people have pointed out that it's a good idea to have a little bit of cohesion in mind when you're picking your gifts. People are going to show off what you got them, and if one group has a massively different type of gift than the other, if, for example, the bridesmaids get $100 item and the groomsmen get a tiny trinket, that may not go over so well. There could be little sensitivity there, and while it's not a huge issue – typically, because the gifts are different for each group, there's not a lot of speculation about it – it is something to keep in mind.
Drinking and Specialized Themes
We know that lots of fun weddings now have a certain theme. You might not be actually planning your wedding in a thematic way, (with pirates or LARPing or whatever you’re into,) but you might have a drink list that's specialized in a certain way according to what you enjoy with your groomsmen. That may be an opportunity to narrow your choices when it comes to gift-giving and ordering personalized and customized items that give a nod to the official liquor of your event.
